MENOPAUSE IN THE WORKPLACE

About

In 2021, BUPA research estimated that nearly 1 million in the UK have been forced out of the labour market due to menopausal symptoms, indicating that it has become increasingly clear that there is a robust business case as well as a moral one, for supporting people experiencing menopause at work.

1 in 3 employers do not feel well equipped to support women going through the menopause at work, according to a 2022 Acas survey.

-  In 2021 CIPD research found that for every ten women experiencing menopausal symptom, 6 said it had a negative impact on their work.

 - CIPD also found that only a quarter of women experiencing menopausal systems felt comfortable disclosing the reason for their absence to their managers.

-Most symptoms of menopause last around four years, but one in ten women experience them for ten years according to CIPD
