Lisa Power

LGBTQ+ Activist (She/Her)

Who am I

Lisa Power is a dyke who's been around for donkeys years and a serial interferer in history. An open lesbian since the mid 1970s, she co-founded Stonewall and the Pink Paper (among others), was the first openly queer person to speak on our rights at the UN while Secretary General of the International Lesbian & Gay Association, spent 14 years with Gay Switchboard through the early AIDS crisis and later 17 years with Terrence Higgins Trust, latterly as Policy Director. During the 1980s Lesbian Sex Wars she created the first lesbian sex toy mail order business in the UK, Thrilling Bits, for the sheer devilry of it.

She has advised (and often appeared in) multiple TV, video and radio documentaries and dramas including Its A Sin, AIDS: The Lost Tapes and Fifty Years Of Pride. She is currently a Trustee of Queer Britain Museum, a campaigner for LGBTQ
